What Happened to my Flap?

Flaps are like handy little pull out drawers for your workspace. The Supplies flap is specialized for holding the Etoys program objects and is always available. Custom flaps are useful for holding project documentation or stashing away large objects. Normally when you save your project any flaps you create are saved along with it.

You can set flaps to behave like the Supplies flap in the flap's halo menu options settings. Right click the flap tab to get the right menu. The flap can be set to share objects with other projects and to act like a parts bin. When act like a parts bin is set you can drag out copies of the object contained in the flap.

The share with all projects setting is only good  for your current session. When set the flap will appear in all open projects and you'll be able to use the objects contained in the flap. If you disable the share with all projects setting the flap will remain in your current project and disappear in all other projects. The flap will be saved with the current project. If you save your projects with the share with all projects setting enabled, the next time you start Etoys and load in your projects the shared flap and the objects it contained will be gone. To prevent this sadness, when using the share with all projects setting leave any objects you want to preserve outside of flaps and put object copies in the flap. That way if you forget to disable share all projects before you save and quit Etoys you are less likely to lose objects.

You can also put your own objects in the Supplies flap but that too only lasts for the current session.
